Thank You for Winter Flowers

“Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come...”Song of Songs 2:12

Thank You for Winter Flowers

Thank you, God, for winter flowers.

When the sky is gray, and the grass is brown in its dormancy, and the bushes and trees have lost their leaves – thank you for winter flowers.

Thank you for splashes of color that pop out against the drab wintery background.

Thank you for the daffodils, and the camellias, and the I-don't-know-whats-but-they're-really-pretty.

Thank you that when all seems lifeless and dreary, there are signs of new life.

Thank you for winter flowers.

When my life feels gray, and in its dormancy, and lifeless – thank you for winter flowers.

Thank you for words of encouragement randomly spoken.
For kindness shown by friends and strangers.
For a warm embrace given for no reason.
For the belly laughter of a baby.
For the kiss of a puppy.
For the silent presence of a friend.

For the still, small voice that says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; there is nothing in all creation that will ever separate you from my love: Not. One. Thing.”

Thank you, God, for winter flowers.
